چکیده
Cutaneous leishmaniasis due to Leishmania tropica represents a major public health problem its ability spread into non-endemic areas by means of vectors, and the associated dramatic psychosocial impact. The objective this work was compare intra extradomiciliary density, sex ratio gonotrophic stage sand flies from recent active focus in Morocco. This field study is based on need optimize effectiveness control programs. Two different capture methods, CDC light traps sticky traps, were used at two times year, corresponding with peaks fly abundance. 7,815 captured classified 13 species belonging genera Sergentomyia (50.8%) Phlebotomus (49.2%). sergenti most abundant frequent genus both inside (49.3%) outside houses (52.1%) it showed highest density captures June. proportion blood-fed females similar indoors outdoors (21.5% 26.3%, respectively). Females three stages found 26% significantly some factors related housing conditions. Therefore, P. seems well adapted biotopes where these coexist males. These findings suggest that adoption additional measures could benefit strategy Moroccan authorities, currently consisting indoor insecticide spraying, given transmission may also occur outdoors.

Background Establishment of sand flies laboratory colonies is essential to understand various biological aspects of Phlebotominae sand flies. The aims of the current study were to establish the colony of Phlebotomus sergenti Parrot (1917), the main vector of anthroponotic cutaneous leishmaniasis in old world, and to study biological parameters of this species. Methods The sand flies were rear...
